So, pregnancy brain, something ALL Moms understand way to well. I have a theory on pregnancy brain, our bodies are amazing things, they know how to form a baby out of something as small as a grain of sand, it forms fingers, toes, a heart, eyes, ears, genitals, yet i am convinced that our bodies have not figured out how to make brains for a baby. I mean obviously our babies are born with brains, but not their own.
I am convinced that the reason for pregnancy brain and AFTER pregnancy brain is because our bodies actually take small chunks out of the functioning part of our brain to make the babies brains. Because let me tell you the things i have forgotten sense having children is incredible. If i have an idea for a blog post for example, if i don't write it down within 30 seconds of thinking it i would forget it later.
I am Now in the habit of checking my rear view mirror every 5 min after i leave the house making sure i didn't forget my baby Son at home. I'm 99% positive if i did my girls would tell me but i still have a bit of panic each time i cant remember if i put him in the car. My friends say "now that's absurd, you could never forget your kid at home" yeah well i never thought ANY parent could leave their child IN A CAR but that happens all the time in the news. Or that i could forget my daughters 3rd birthday but that ALMOST happened. I have a Mom calendar on my fridge that I have to be standing in front of when making plans with anyone because i will forget that i have a dinner date with a friend and tell my Dad that i will help him move a couch that night. My question is...When exactly does our brains heal themselves and we get our Pre-Pregnancy brains back? I have only went 1 1/2 years between pregnancies and i know that that is not long enough to regain my memory.
My memory is so bad this one time really sticks out in my mind (yep i do remember some things) a friend of mine is a MMA fighter and he was having a title fight at a casino and he had been telling us to get tickets as soon as they went on sale because they would sell out fast, well guess what? I FORGOT!!!! So i called him and told him that i had forgot and that i cant remember shit sense i have had children. So he proceeds to tell me that i can buy something called ginkgo biloba and that it would help me with my memory. I ask him were i can get it (somewhere in the conversation i also asked him where i could get tickets to the fight but i don't remember what he said, imagine that) and he says at CVS or GNC. So when i get off the phone with him about an hour later i remember, Oh hey i better get on calling CVS because i'm pretty sure he said that i can get Tickets for the MMA fight at CVS, RIGHT?! He did say that i could get tickets to the fight? i mean its not like we talked about anything other then the fights. So i proceed to call all the CVS's in my area and ask them if they have anymore tickets to the fights at the casino. They all tell me that they don't sell tickets. And i say sorta snooty like, "well my friend is the guy who is the one in the title fight and he told Me i could get tickets here". So they go and ask the manager and they tell me that they have never sold tickets at CVS. After calling 3 more CVS's in my area and they all said the same thing, I call my friend and tell him that I called all the stores and they all said they don't sell tickets at CVS. He said "What the fuck are you talking about, I said you could get Ginkgo Biloba at CVS" well thank you children for that little bit of embarrassment caused by the fact that the three of you had to steal the short term memory part of my brain. But in the end i'd do it all again because i love their little brains, every little stolen square inch of it!!!
